It has long been talked about that Rush’s last tour was to be their last and it looks like that might indeed be the case.

It has long been talked about that Rush’s last tour was to be their last and it looks like that might indeed be the case.  In an interview with Drumhead Magazine, Neil Peart spoke about  career with Rush and where his mind is now, saying, “Lately Olivia (his daughter) has been introducing me to new friends at school as “My dad — He’s a retired drummer.” True to say, funny to hear. And it does not pain me to realize that, like all athletes, there comes a time to… take yourself out of the game. I would rather set it aside then face the predicament described in our song “Losing It,” “Sadder still to watch it die, than never to have known it.””

Considering the length of their songs and tours it is not surprising that someone who has been doing it this long, might feel like the time has come to hang it up.  Let’s hope that it is not the case and that there is one more run left in the future.

The group recently released their R40 live set commemorating their final tour which occurred last year.  Read our review here.
