Anathema – Cruise to the Edge Feature #24

Anathema are an English progressive rock band from Liverpool. They were primarily known as one of the pioneering and leading death doom metal acts, incorporating growling, poetic lyrics and complex arrangements into the traditional doom riffage. Later in their career, beginning with “Eternity”, they moved away from this sound into more melodic, atmospheric rock.  The line-up consists of singers and guitarists Vincent and Daniel Cavanagh, their brother Jamie Cavanagh at bass, siblings John and Lee Douglas, respectively drummer and singer, and keyboardist Daniel Cardoso since November 2012.

Recent albums such as ‘We’re Here Because We’re Here’, ‘Weather Systems’ and 2014’s critically acclaimed ‘distant satellites‘ have seen the band move into a more progressive sound, which has also garnered them a wider audience. ‘A Sort Of Homecoming’, a new concert film of Anathema’s homecoming show on March 7th 2015 in the spectacular setting of the Liverpool Cathedral is set for release on October 30th through Kscope.
