Top 30 Prog Albums 2000-2019

A list of the best progressive rock albums from 2000-2019.

1. Transatlantic – The Whirlwind (2009)

When Neal Morse left Spock’s Beard in 2002, he also left Transatlantic. No one knew if this supergroup would ever record again. 7 years later, they would meet secretly to record their 3rd album, The Whirlwind. The reunion was initiated after Morse surprised Mike Portnoy in an email asking if he wanted to make another Transatlantic album. The result was a tour de force album built around 1 song titled “The Whirlwind.” The 72 minute masterpiece would reinvigorate the group and cement them as one of the great supergroups of all time. They would embark on a massive world tour, and a few years later record a follow ‘Kaleidoscope’. While each member still has their other main bands, they still find time to make music, and are set to release a new album in 2020.
