Mike Portnoy has a long and eclectic career, from first founding Dream Theater and being their drummer and driving force for 25 years, to joining or forming a number of groups ranging from prog related acts like Neal Morse Band, Transatlantic and Flying Colors to more metal acts such as Avenged Sevenfold, Twisted Sister, Metal Allegiance, and his current rock group The Winery Dogs. That is just to name a few. Portnoy has also led the charge in exposing new bands whether it is by bringing them on tour as opening acts or setting up tours and events like Progressive Nation. In celebration of his 50th birthday in 2017, Portnoy has set up an “All-Star Career Retrospective Concert” on board the Cruise to the Edge, which will feature as of yet un-named guests to perform songs from his various groups, as well as, the first ever performance of the 12-Step Suite which consists of 5 songs Portnoy wrote as a member of Dream Theater.
