A list of new and recently released live albums we recommend.

Dream Theater – Quarantième: Live à Paris (November 28th, 2025)

Perhaps no other tour in 2024 carried more significance in the prog and metal world than Dream Theater’s 40th Anniversary, which was both a celebration of four decades of groundbreaking music and the triumphant return of founding drummer Mike Portnoy. The new live release Quarantième: Live à Paris captures the band during this historic run. Recorded at a sold-out Adidas Arena in Paris, the iconic lineup of James LaBrie, John Petrucci, John Myung, Jordan Rudess and Portnoy sounds more energized and unified than ever, delivering a performance that reflects both renewed chemistry and veteran precision. The setlist spans every era, even reaching into songs recorded before Portnoy’s return, and includes the now Grammy-nominated track “Night Terror” from their reunion album Parasomnia, which shines as one of the show’s most electrifying moments. Classics such as “Metropolis Pt. 1,” “Home,” “Octavarium,” and “Pull Me Under” land with massive impact, and LaBrie’s powerful vocals add emotional weight throughout. With its stellar sound quality and career-spanning scope, Quarantième: Live à Paris is both a document of a milestone tour and proof that Dream Theater remains at the very top of their game.

Airbag – Dysphoria: Live in the Netherlands (November 21st, 2025)

Airbag’s first official live album captures the Norwegian band in peak form, recorded during a powerful 2024 performance at Poppodium Boerderij in Zoetermeer. The set features last year’s The Century of the Self played in full, and the material comes across with gripping dynamics and a renewed sense of urgency, highlighting just how strong their latest work stands in their catalog. The band balances the new album with fan favorites like “Machines and Men” from 2021’s A Day at the Beach and the enduring “Redemption” from their classic The Greatest Show on Earth, both delivered with an emotional weight that resonates throughout the recording. Bjorn Riis’ “Gilmour-esque” guitar shines on tracks like “Dysphoria,” while vocalist Asle Tostrup captivates with his direct vocal style. The sound is rich, cinematic, and sonically stunning. Spanning two CDs or double vinyl, this long-awaited live release reaffirms Airbag as a vital band in the modern progressive rock scene.
