Neil Peart, the iconic and groundbreaking drummer of prog legends Rush passed away Tuesday, January 7th, in Santa Monica, California at age 67. Peart had been quietly battling brain cancer for three years, according to Elliott Mintz, a spokesperson for the Peart family. Also the lyricist for the band, Peart is widely considered one of the best drummers, if not the best drummer, of all time.
Rush finished their final tour in 2015 and Peart had retired from drumming.
